Privacy Policy

This policy describes how we handle personal data when you use the ActNow mobile app and related services.

1. Data controller

2. Data we collect

Account: email, display name, password (stored hashed).
Offers: title, description, category, photos, pickup address and coordinates, time window, notes.
Location: when you grant permission, to show the map and nearby offers (while in use).
Camera / photos: to document donation items and handovers, if you grant permission.
Notifications: push token if you enable notifications.
Daily Donation (QR): recipient name or label (entered by an intermediary), QR tokens, redemption timestamps, and partner daily quotas — only to operate the meal program.
Technical data: API requests, crash/error logs to operate and improve the service.

3. Why we use it

Create accounts, sign in, authenticate users.
Publish offers and coordinate volunteers and charity hubs.
Display offers on the map and calculate community impact (e.g. CO₂).
Send notifications (e.g. offer claimed, expiry).
Daily Donation QR program: generate, validate, and redeem meal codes at partner locations.
Security, fraud prevention, service improvement.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

Contract performance (providing the service).
Your consent (location, camera, notifications).
Legitimate interests (security, operations).
Legal obligation where applicable.

5. Sharing

We share data with trusted processors only to run the service:

Cloud database (PostgreSQL / Neon).
File storage (e.g. Vercel Blob) for uploaded photos.
Map services (e.g. Google Maps) when used.
Error monitoring (e.g. Sentry) if enabled.

We do not sell your personal data for marketing.

6. Retention

We keep data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion at any time (see below).

7. Your rights

Under GDPR you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, object, and withdraw consent where applicable.

8. Account deletion

In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account (password confirmation required). After deletion, account-linked data is permanently removed except where law requires retention.

9. Children

ActNow is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Contact privacy@actnow.hu if you believe we have.

10. Security

Passwords are stored hashed; we use HTTPS. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

11. Changes

We may update this page. Material changes will be communicated in the app or by email.
